The Social Public Expenditure and Financial Accountability (SPEFA) Project, has set up a seven-member committee in the Birim Central Municipality of the Eastern Region, to track the progress of development.
The project aims at improving citizens' perception about financial management, how the Municipal and District Assemblies manage their resources and report on resources.
SPEFA Project emanated from the Local Government Capacity Support Project, which was initiated by the Government and World Bank.
Mr Kofi Adjei-Amparbeng the Programmes Director for 4-GHana, an NGO and also a facilitator for SPEFA said, the committee was geared to help members and the public to liaise effectively with the assembly to ensure growth of wealth in the Municipality.
Mr Mohammed Nurudin Adam, the Chairman for SPEFA Project Group prompted the executives to be punctual at meetings.
