Mr. Maxwell Awuku, Acting Managing Director (MD) of Metro Mass Transit (MMT), has asked staff of the company to desist from all acts that tend to undermine the smooth operation and growth of the corporate entity.
He warned that Management would no longer close their eyes to corrupt practices and other forms of malfeasance. Mr Awuku said MMT has been inundated with daily calls about ill- treatment of passengers by drivers and conductors and warned of sanctions against offenders.
Mr Awuku was addressing a staff durbar of the Ashanti Regional Depot of the company in Kumasi. The acting MD announced that the company would add 150 new buses to its fleet within the next two months.
This would bring to 250 the number of buses the company has taken delivery of this year.
Mr Awuku said he was optimistic that with the increase of its fleet the MMT would soon be serving about 60 per cent of the transport needs of Ghanaians.
Mr Baffour Assenso, Regional Depot Manager, said Management would continue to interact with the workers to improve conditions of service.
