Reports indicate that the biggest telecommunication operator in the country, MTN is making changes to key positions in the company.

The company’s Acting Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) Clement Asante has been transferred to Liberia to work as a substantive CMO for MTN in that country.

Mr. Clement Asante has now been replaced by Rahul De as Acting Chief Marketing Officer in Ghana. Mr. Asante’s Liberia appointment took effect from August.

Barely a month ago, MTN’s Corporate Executive Mawuena Trebarh, resigned from her position and has now been replaced by Cynthia Lumor. Citi Business News has learnt that some other executives in key positions in the company have also resigned.

Meanwhile, MTN has said that it is primed to take its position as a dominant player in mobile-driven ICT as a battle for convergence gets underway.

Group CCO, Christian de Faria said MTN is moving towards ICT to develop and drive mobile data, deploy convergent services and lever its own infrastructure.

He said there is now a battle for convergence and casualty of this shift is the declining voice revenue, as data usage increases. De faria said smart phone distribution challenges and poor banking in infrastructure in some of MTN’s markets present opportunities, and MTN has taken advantage of this, through MobileMoney.

As at 30th June, this year, there were 5. 1 million registered MobileMoney subscribers, with Uganda and Ghana, each accounting for 37 percent of the total.
