The Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB) is pursuing aggressive electronic banking strategies to provide convenient platforms for its customers to transact business, Mr. Kojo Addai-Mensah, the Chief Operating Officer, has said.
HE said the deployment of internet banking, mobile banking, automated teller machine (ATM) and the point of sale systems are all part of the banks effort to provide modern alternative channels for its customers to conveniently do business and appealed to customers to take advantage of these platforms.
He was speaking at a ceremony to officially reopen the Kumasi Main Branch, which has been relocated from the Bank of Ghana (BOG) building to the Harper Road branch building, near the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), Adum.
The GCB Main branch had been operating from the BOG premises since 1955.
Mr. Addai-Mensah said its relocation is meant to provide more congenial and convenient environment for both staff and customers.
He denied that the move was part of a scheme to reduce the number of branches of the bank. They rather have plans to expand their network and open branches at some identified districts and locations.
