The Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) has confirmed to Citi Business News, the Kumasi Airport faces another closure.
The airport was temporarily closed about two weeks ago for rehabilitation works on the runway, but according to the GCAA, another closure is imminent.
But the rehabilitation works this time round will include expansion of the terminal, as well as resurfacing and extension of the runway among others.
This is estimated to cost in excess of GHC 58 million.
The Director General of the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority, Air Commodore Kwame Mamphey stated that the runway has to be re-done completely.
He said: �At the appropriate time, the Airport Company will let us know. The area we are going to have a discussion on will be contracture and the Airport Company will come up with a plan to let us know when this rehabilitation works will commence.�
