The Executive Chairman of Jospong and Zoomlion Group of Companies, Dr Joseph Siaw Agyepong, has urged Ghanaians to venture into businesses to help boost the economy.

He explained that the current economic indicators, specifically, the depreciation of the cedi against major trading currencies was increasingly making international trading difficult.

Speaking at the Second Bezalel Conference organised by the Men’s Ministry of the Church of Pentecost, Ghana, Dr Agyepong encouraged enterprising Ghanaians to rise above past failures and venture into new fields of business.

The Bezalel Conference is an annual event held by the Church of Pentecost to create a platform for members to interact, share experiences and ideas, connect on avenues to improve their businesses and strengthen their spiritual lives.

The theme for this year’s conference was: “Man--God’s Steward in Business,” which was taken from Luke 19:13 in the Holy Bible.

Dr Agyepong, who is also an elder of the Church of Pentecost, called for a change in the mindset and attitude of Ghanaians towards business.

He encouraged participants to establish associations that promoted networking and business growth.

“Go into partnerships to ensure sustainability of your business, create a brand and be proud of your brand as this will help secure future prospects” he urged.

Additionally, he said children of God were not created beggars and entreated the church to stop begging for support but position itself to identify opportunities and exploit them.

The Chairman of the Church of Pentecost, Apostle Dr Opoku Onyinah, in a speech read on his behalf, noted that corruption, laziness and other negative business practices continued to reverse the progress of the nation and for that matter members must desist from such practices.

Dr Onyinah admonished the participants to take advantage and tap the knowledge and expertise of the various speakers.

He asked them to exhibit strength and courage to confront the moral decadence that has engulfed the nation.

The Director of the Pentecost Men’s Ministry (PEMEM), Apostle Julius Asante Ayeh, noted that God had placed in every individual, the ability to achieve something in a unique way.

“Our purpose for assembling participants is to bring the best we have in the Kingdom of God to share their success stories, rich experiences and guide us in a way we can become better equipped,” he stated.

The conference was held at the Pentecost Convention Centre at Gomoa Fetteh.
