Some workers of Volta Star Textiles Limited have locked out management of the company to press home their demand for their 10 months’ salary arrears.
The angry workers, numbering about 70, recently staged a demonstration at the forecourt of the company and prevented management from entering the premises.
According to the workers, calls on management to address the problems fell on deaf ears for a long time and they could no longer take care of their families.
Chiefs in the area, sources indicated, have pleaded with the employees to take a month’s salary and resume work while management pays the rest, but the workers kicked against the arrangement.
However, some workers, who agreed to take a month’s salary and resume work yesterday, November 30, 2015, were labelled by their colleagues as ‘saboteurs’ and were prevented from entering the premises.
