Founder and leader of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom has encouraged Ghanaians to patronize locally manufactured commodities to support the stability of our economy.
The CEO for Groupe Nduom stated that it is better for Ghanaians to develop an interest in buying locally produced rice compared to the imported ones.
Speaking on ATV’s Ghana Great and Strong show the PPP leader educated viewers that locally produced rice were healthy as compared to the foreign brands.
The PPP stalwart noted that brands such as Champion long grain rice, Copa Jasmine long grain rice and the Edwumawura rice which are produced in Ghana were tastier to eat when cooked and served.
“It is advisable to take a lot of water in addition to fibrous food like rice to prevent sickness in the body. Ghana is said to be an importer of rice to the tune of over 500,000,000 USD every year but rice is produced right here in Ghana”, he said.
Dr. Nduom continued that “brown rice is said to be extremely beneficial for the normal functioning of the nervous system and the production of sex hormones”.
The PPP leader cautioned Ghanaians to develop the taste for local rice to enhance the production of rice in Ghana.

our Ghanaian local rice are not accessible. I live in Kumasi and I have not been seeing some. except the ones in the local market being sold in cups
its good to patronize our own product. Thanks Dr. Nduom.
The high fiber content in our local rice makes it highly nutritious.Let's eat our own rice and help our farmers. Thank you Dr. Ndoum.
Well said, that is the only way we can develop our own. Tuzic at all the hotels it's Edwumawura rice that's served so the next time you eat rice from any coconut grove hotel you're eating Ghana rice.
Most importantly, these foreign rice are released to us after several years of being stored. We need to eat what we grow. Local rice are fresh and not nearing their expiry before they are brought to the market like most of these imported rice. Let's empower our local rice industries by consuming what we grow. It is only through that, that we can build wealth for our country. Dr Nduom, thank you for the insight.
