Over 700 former workers of the now defunct UT and Capital banks are set to lose their jobs as the takeover bank GCB has begun issuing out termination letters.
The affected staff have already received letters asking them to proceed home.
Starr News understands GCB is only retaining clerical and top management staff of the banks.
Sources have also hinted Starr News that the GCB will retain just about 20 branches of the collapsed banks nationwide.
The development comes after the receiver of the takeover PricewaterhouseCoopers last month disengaged the services of all 1356 staff of the two banks.

sad but i hope they get another opportunity else where. we shd not politicize this. it is not any govt's fault that those banks are not operating at their best. if you want to do any blame game then blame ndc for their poor management of the economy that makes it difficult for business to survive. i remember reading a story that says that one of the affect banks (or even both) saw the collapse as far as 3 years ago. who was in power by then? let us use our brains small and this has nothing to do with change.
Change has caught up with them. CHANGE HAS COME! embrace it
