Executive Assistant to the Chief Executive Officer of Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD), Mr Fiifi Boafo, has dismissed claims that some 900 pieces of chocolate branded with the picture of the COCOBOD CEO to mark his 60th birthday was paid for with taxpayers’ money.
“The chocolates they are talking about were ordered by myself and it was at a cost of GHS2, 940. An invoice was issued on the 13th of December and payment has been effected.
It has nothing to do with COCOBOD, it has nothing to do with government institution and taxpayers’ money,” he told Class 91.3FM in Accra on Monday, January 8, 2018.
He explained that the Cocoa Processing Company (CPC) customises Golden Tree chocolates for occasions such as birthdays, weddings and funerals for the public with an extra 10% charge for the branding. For him, branding of chocolate is not new and he does not understand why the development should invite public criticisms.
“I don’t get the fuss about this story where people say that by branding chocolates, it constitutes profligacy, abuse of power and all sorts of descriptions,” he said.
He added that “it is a complete lie that COCOBOD money has been used to finance the birthday of Joseph Boahen Aidoo.”

If it is your own money at all, is it prudent? Donate to charity on your birthday and do not try to idolize yourself on chocolate bars. Opunni opulence is free in our minds.
Oh peleese! I know politicians are paranoid but let us not allow them to draw us into their paranoia. Customization is not new. We ALL do it on occasions so what aaa is wrong if someone decides to brand a product and PAY for it him/her self? In this case a CEO of a company decides to brand his company's product (not another company's product) and actually goes ahead to pay for it ( thereby contributing to the profit of his company). I think he should be applauded rather than crucified in the name of politics and so called 'charged " atmosphere etc etc. Bottom line: Has he done anything corrupt? abuse of power? fraudulent? caused financial loss?? Answer for yourselves naaww...aabah!!
For the lack of knowledge ..............
why is it that politicians don't leanr?i am an npp strong member but this is not the best.mr CEO what would have been removed from your name if you did not do it?the environment we live in is not correct so we have to be very careful what we do and say....the people are watching ohhh.hmmmm
mr CoCoBod CEO, why do you defend such stuuuupppppp1d action? Are you not sensitive to the political environment we live in? You are aware of the charged nature of our community and the economic realities that many of us face. Yet you go this fuuuuuuuuuuuuuulish thing & try to defend it? Why do you do this? Would it have killllled you if u did not do this???? You are a biggggg eddddiottt Mr CEO.
These politicians and government appointees will not learn. Keep branding and customizing and it will come to haunt you like kakai down the line
How come Fiifi Boafo ordered for the chocolates but the invoice was in the name of the CEO? In one instance, it was reported that 300 pieces were ordered. However, Mr. Boafo said 900 pieces. Which is which? Kleptomania government.
