The central bank has today released a list of banks in good standing in the country.
The Bank of Ghana mandated to supervise and regulate the operations of all financial institutions in the country.
According to the bank, they hope the list of the bank standing in their good books would help restore customers’ confidence in the banking sector.
Remember some few months ago, the Central Bank dissolved five “insolvent” indigenous banks to form the Consolidated Bank of Ghana Limited.
These were the Royal Bank, Sovereign Bank, The Construction Bank, uniBank and Beige Bank.
Attached are the banks that the Central Bank has duly licensed to operate in the country:

Why is GN Bank amongst the list. How can a bank that cannot allow customers to withdraw their own monies deposited, be part good standing banks in the country. I have tried to with money and my request is reduced to begging tellers to help me cash my own money. Since first October till now nothing is gurranteed yet. They queue customers up with a promise of giving out a specific amount (from ghs500 to 100) and at the end of the day nothing at all is given but cheap lies that the monies never arrived. Ndoum should back up
Seven private banks have collapsed due to the criminal conduct of high profile loan DEFAULTERS to dupe depositors of their savings yet BOG refused to publish their names despite the fact that the government is going to bail them out with over 13 billion GHC tax payers money... BOG MAFIA STAFF who have Teamed up with directors of private banks and high profile loan DEFAULTERS to dupe depositors of their savings must be published and sanctioned because they are ***barred word*** ***barred word*** ***barred word***.. YET NPP IS SHIELDING THEM.... MEANWHILE MENZGOLD NEVER DEFAULTED EVEN ONCE IN PAYING CUSTOMERS DIVIDENDS BUT BOG TEAMED UP WITH SEC TO CLOSE IT DOWN AND CAUSED PANIC WITHDRAWALS.... WHY ARE YOU TREATING CULPRITS OF 7 COLLAPSED BANKS WITH KID GLOVES YET TEARING OTHERS INTO PIECES... Wait and see 2020 what voters will do to npp..
This bank issue is becoming too much and some of us are really gettn sick n tired wth saving the bank this days.. With First Allied Bank up till now we don't really know what is going on. I wish something could be done about it. U dnt even hear news on Wat wrong
Wrong caption. Licensed banks and banks in good standing are entirely different. Banks in good standing from regulatory point of view are banks that are in compliance with Bank of Ghana's rules and regulations {(including provisions in the Banks and SDIs Act, 2016 (Act 930), BoG directives, notices etc)}. Licensed banks however, are banks that have obtained license from BoG to undertake banking activities .Therefore, a licensed bank may not be in good standing at BoG.
When they say a bank is in good standing do you really understand it, read it well, if all customers go to a bank to withdraw all their deposit which has been invested to pay interest to customers, which has been giving to customers as loans, which has been giving to contractors as loans, do you expect the bank to get you all your money when you enter the banking hall, Please lets stop this, no bank in the would can survive when 20 percent of its customers run to the bank to take all their money, the moneys are not burried in the banking hall to pay all customers when they rush to the bank to withdraw, lets support them, they are doing well, look at the number of branches they have in Ghana including a branch in your village, lets support the local banks especially GN BANK.
Hello, all is not well at GN Bank. Customers are not able to withdraw their monies. Please help investigate what's the problem Peace FM. GN Banks at Kpandai and Saboba and I know other places are involved.
