Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr., wants the Central Bank to put in place measures that will stem any panic withdrawals by customers of indigenous banks in the country.
To him, panic withdrawals are not only a potential threat to the growth and success of local banks, but most likely affect Ghana's financial sector, with the economy heading to a downward course.
He expressed worry over the rate of crippling local financial businesses and therefore told host Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo' show, that the Bank of Ghana being the mother financial institution with oversight responsibility over the financial sector, must "give assurances to the public about the fate of the existing banks”.
Also commenting on the law suit against Pastor Mensa Otabil, General Overseer of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC) and management of the defunct Capital Bank, Kwesi Pratt alluded to previous reports that he and his media outfit made years ago regarding the activities of the bank managers.
According to him, during the years he was publishing the rot at Capital Bank, the bank authorities threatened him with legal suits but to no avail till they both had an amicable settlement to stop the publications.
Although noting that he doesn't feel vindicated by the suit against Pastor Mensah Otabil and 13 others of the Capital Bank; he however wants finality on the issue.

Foreigners like whites and Chinese are too important for Nana Addo. Ghanaian and Nigerian businesses are being closed down to satisfy IMF
This is a clear case of conflict of interest, the finance minister is the owner of the databank which is always struggling to compete with paa kwesi nduoms gold coast securities. The finance minister is simply getting rid of the competition. Gold coast securities is far better than databank, why is it collapsing and databank is still there?
Well said. They should help the local companies
Let's all support our local Banks & save it from collapsing.
Purchase made in Ghana products and Services is what our leaders preach. Indigenous banks in GH are our locally made products and services. BOG please help save our local banks.
It will be risky to have only foreign banks operate in our country, in times of a recession they will dictate to us how we should basically run our homes
That's a good point made from Kwesi Pratt but my issuebis, what is the Bank Of Ghana being silent for when things are getting chaotic?
Support our local banks and save with them
We surely need to sit up and put in some measures before things get totally worse.
Well Said.👍🇬🇭
