Something serious is happening in the educational sector. Over the last seven days at least 16 parents have approached to complain about their inability to pay fees for their wards in tertiary institutions.
Six of the parents have wards in the final year in some of the private universities. The situation is grave to the extent that the universities are not allowing the students to take their final examinations without paying their fees.
We think that the Government and the educational authorities ought to be worried about this situation. What can be done to save these poor students? Shouldnt our society be insisting on education as a right and not a privilege?
