I had always believed that the NPP and some other Ghanaian businessmen/ politicians such as Mr. Bernard Antwi Boasiako (alias Chairman Wontumi) and Hon. Kennedy Agyapong were merely displaying acts of hatred and jealousy against the brother of our first gentleman- Ibrahim Mahama, little did I know that some of these allegations of malfeasance did really have substance and that it vindicates the position held by some Ghanaians that the Engineers & Planners CEO might be exploiting his relationship with President Mahama to unduly gain contracts and make undeserved profits.

How on earth can a government of a country such as Ghana led by President Mahama, quietly release state purchased equipment meant for Metropolitan, Municipal and district assemblies (MMDA’s) to the brother of the President for a commercial project such as desilting of the Odaw drains, and when the information is leaked by the opposition NPP MP-Ken Agyapong, government’s response is that he is executing the project at no cost to the state, childish response in my candid opinion!!!!

Perhaps this has gone to confirm the alleged assertion by Ashanti regional scribe of the NPP, Chairman Wontumi that the President and his brother are strongly condoning and conniving to milk the state dry.

Let the government explain to Ghanaians how and why a contract of this nature can be awarded to the brother of the President without any formal documentation which shall clearly spell out the terms and conditions of the project, which will prove to all that indeed Engineers & Planners (E & P) owned by Ibrahim is executing the project for free.

Funny enough, I have heard some NDC commentators attempting to describe the work by Engineers’ & Planners as not only generous and patriotic but as a corporate social responsibility (CSR) as well, tweaaaaa!!! Let them say this to the marines. If one can use the state’s own property (Tipper trucks) to serve the country then I wonder where these commentators learnt what constitutes CSR, especially when the executor has nicodemusly branded the state owned trucks in its corporate name as if they were E & P acquired.

Now, let President Mahama and his local government Ministers try and answer the following questions bothering the minds of many concerning the desilting project.

1.How come President Mahama and his brother’s entity did not inform Ghanaians from the onset that E & P has agreed to offer such free service to the state and that all it require from government, is the release of the state owned trucks to support the initiative, but only came out with such childish and unsubstantiating explanation after the Exposé ? Perhaps E & P would have earned the applause of Ghanaians if they had been that proactive.

2.Nonetheless, can government tell us that persons or business entities who express the desire to offer free services to the state are not required in anyway to have any formal understanding with the state as reference evidence? If there is, I dare them publish it for all to see.

Anything outside these would be deemed as a cover up attempts by government to bury the exposé and offer the state property to E & P for free. Perhaps what government needs to do is to render an unqualified apology to the state whiles Ibrahim Mahama does same to his critics whom he vilified in several media platforms, especially Chairman Wontumi.

I am even more convinced now that Ibrahim Mahama cannot make any convincing argument against Chairman Wontumi in their ongoing defamation suit at the Kumasi high court.

To Ibrahim, I say do the honorable thing by withdrawing the suit against Wontumi and apologise to him to save your increasingly denting image. “Let those who have ears listen” and “A word to the wise is enough”.
