Dear women,
As we celebrate International Women's Day today, please allow me use the opportunity to spew some advice to you on the matter of Gender Equality.
Over the period we have witnessed feminist groups advocate for gender equality and its related issues.
I've been asking myself what at all women want? Is it the body men have or the innate characteristics they possess?
I'm sure the answer is a NO, however if it's a yes then the conversation will now divert to a different issue altogether i.e transgender. I am not here today because of transgender but women yearning to be equal to men.
Let me ask the question again, what at all do we want with this gender equality? To the best of my knowledge, the International community has formulated laws and policies which seek to protect the fundamental human rights of all persons regardless of their gender.
Every human right enshrined in such policy documents is not sex biased and so i find it extremely difficult to understand why the cry and advocacy on gender equality especially when men are not advocating otherwise.
I do not want to dwell on the Bible and the start of creation on this, in order not to sound religious at the advantage of one particular religion however; if the story of creation is anything to go by, with regards to all other beliefs, one will agree with me that the man was created before the woman. In fact it is out of the man, the woman was made.
This is to connote that, in terms of seniority in the creation world, women are not equal to men. This notwithstanding, laws and policies are almost always twisted in favour of women and children at the detriment of men yet, men do not complain.
I dare say men have accepted their role as senior citizens of the creation world and will therefore sacrifice just to ensure women are gleeful.
I have been particularly worried at the pace at which feminist groups are emerging with different theories on how powerful the woman wants to be over its companion men.
I have also learnt with distaste from my male friends how the trend now in dating a woman settles on whether or not a man can cook before a woman considers him worthy of her love.
Abomination!!! Since when did this become the criterion over a man of repute and of good moral disposition? Again, i dare say that feminism and its advocates are gradually ill shaping the thinking of women in recent times.
This should be worrying, considering the great cultural values our foremothers left behind.
Let's ask ourselves whether our great great mothers will be happy with our cry and hunger for equality these days in their graveyards when we are more powerful but do not know how to use this power we possess.
Naturally, women are more powerful than men, therefore, it is needless the ranting and chanting for attention when men are not contesting this.
We usually claim women are not occupying top management positions in the corporate world but let me ask, is the corporate world the only measure of the success of a woman? How about the successful traders in the informal sector who mostly are women?
Are they not achievers? Success does not depend on the level of education of a person or positions occupied in the society.
Regardless of the assertion above, i am yet to learn of any occupation in the world that hasn't yet seen to the participation of women.
I am not against any feminist group, however; it will be helpful if energies are churned at empowering women to accept their place in the society and play their role efficiently rather than the fight against nothing.
The fact that some men treat women a certain undesirable way does not mean it is a generally accepted norm in the same way a woman will not be expected to maltreat a man.
Women, no fundamental human right of a man is above the same right of a woman. Equal rights with greater privileges to women and children are what we have. Let's learn how to use those privileges and power, for the world to be a beautiful place for all gender.
A beautiful Women’s Day to my fellow women.

Well said my dear, the fact is a woman's place is the home and to bring up the kids in the way of the lord.Anything short of that is outside the will of God.Children these days are rotten to the core with no values because women have abandon their God given responsibility. No matter how successful you are in your career as a woman it does not even count as success until you carry out your God given responsibility.
Good one....I have asked this question before. we have all the days for both men and women why is there another day for women? Are women not included in the remaining days? This is a fight for nothing....rightly so.
You said it all. God bless you
This is great Mavis. I think it’s high time we dealt with this gender equality thing. The idea sounds great but I think it’s being blown out of proportion.
Great piece and a perfect timing. A stronge advice every woman should hold at heart. Proud Odehye3
Well said Mavis...both women and men are powerful in their certain terms. YES, women are naturally powerful than men as Mavis said, despite the economic discrimination particularly, in the field of property ownership, as well as the soco-political injustices inflicted on them in the past. Against all odds, they had and continue to remain-ed powerful and resolute. Today's feminist are no longer agitating for gender equality, rather gender superiority as they try all effort to skew the laws and policies made to protect the right of both male and female to their advantage; a situation which is slowly metamorphosing into gender war...Well done Mavis..the truth is told...
Thank you for your advice. Well said. God bless you
God bless you. Too many women today are being made to believe they are victims which only makes them butter and vindictive; it is counterproductive. Women empowerment MUST be about encouraging women to pursue every they want to achieve being cognisant of the challenges and implications associated. Sadly many self proclaimed feminists today are literally men haters and complainers about things that don't exist. They only seek more special treatment and it is really getting annoying.
