The Management of Angel Group of Companies, manufacturers of Adonko Bitters wishes to officially respond to a press release issued by the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) in relation to the Adonko Aseda Bash organized on the 17th of April, 2017 at the Baba Yara Sports stadium in Kumasi and also to clarify certain misconceptions as a result of subsequent media reportage.
The facts of the case are as follows:
a)The purpose of the event was to reward loyal clients of Adonko Bitters over the past year.
b)The company produced special labels and batch numbers specifically for the event. The special labels were to encourage customers to keep the drinks as souvenirs.
c)Over 35,000 people attended the event and our preliminary investigations indicate that whilst about 10 people may have been drunk/slept off no one passed out as per various speculations in traditional and social media.
d)The company encourages responsible consumption of alcohol and as per Ghana’s laws; the company does not sell to minors.
We wish to assure the general public that Adonko Bitters is produced with 100 percent natural herbs and plants under the most stringent production standards as certified by the FDA and such this ban is unrelated to any product defect.
We respect the authority of the FDA and are of the belief that they are working in the supreme interest of the public and as such we are co-operating fully with their investigations and the directives issued to the company.
In the meantime we will also like to apologize to people whose sensibilities may have been offended by the fallout and also for the distress this has caused our various stakeholders; local authorities, consumers, farmers, suppliers, distributors and employees.
The Management of the company has also with immediate effect reviewed all promotional strategies to forestall any such incident in the future.
We are deeply committed to superior production standards, responsible corporate citizenship and ethical standards in our operations and we are working assiduously to ensure a speedy resolution.

I really do not understand the FDA. How can you ban a product you've already approved over a year. did the company changed the ingredients they were using?
You are lucky this country is Ghana, where laws are trampled upon, your company has the gust to say that "only few people got drunk", do your company value human lives?, your MD is a human and only one person, yet he valuau ti you.yet your negligence caused more than 10people to be destroyed. I wish The Authorities to punish you the more.
is sthis apology or clarity, am lost here. ADONKO please who is ya lawyer, be well advised ok, such releases may mean apology and the magistrate or judge will get the discretion per this release to sanction or fine you people or the company., simply put, the company is well registered with registrar and FDA for the production of that drink., the even had the full permission to commence and security personnel were there., the bottle had inscription NOT FOR CHILDREN UNDER 18 and NOT GOOD FOR PREGNANT WOMEN., if the company had these, why do you apologise, can you people or the organiser make such all the thousands of people drink to their limit or a kid has sneaked to the event., werent the duty of the police rather to sack the kids, IS BETTER GHANAAIAN PARENT AND ADULTS if deserves beating, WE BEAT OUR KIDS OF TODAY, THEY ARE TOO IRRANT AND STUBORN., Adonko please dont accept and blame, the kids had themselves to be blamed bcx even the regional security coordinator couldnt foresee delta forces sacking him from his office so how can you and non security experts forsee kids boozing, its time we warn the kids rather than blaming good companies., a situation where kids use ear gadgets to listen to marriage issues late in the night with the pretest that they are sleeping, can you blame the mother?, kids in Ghana now must be warned, learn of good behaviour and if they think they are grown up, let the same law applies to them, we are tired of blaming society or parents, the kids these days are too stuborn
