Kofi Kwao, a 30-year-old porter, is in the grips of the law for murder.

He is said to have stabbed a 14-year-old school girl to death.

However,  Kwao’s plea was not taken when he appeared before the Amasaman Court A in the Greater Accra Region.

He has since been remanded in police custody to reappear in court on March 16, 2015. The case has also been referred  to the Attorney General’s department for advice.

The facts, as presented to the court by the prosecutor, Inspector F.A Ansah, are that Claudia Odoi, the deceased, was a student who stayed at Manhean near Amasaman in the Greater Accra Region.

Inspector Ansah said on February 17, 2015, about 10 a.m., Odoi was sent by her auntie who is a food vendor to fetch water  for her to wash bowls.

The prosecutor said the deceased used Kwao’s house as a route and he warned her not to use his house as thoroughfare, but she ignored him.

Inspector Ansah said Kwao became offended and chased Odoi with a knife, stabbed her severally on the chest, neck and shoulder until she became unconscious.

He said a witness who saw the act from a distance rushed to the scene to rescue Odoi but Kwao also stabbed him on the neck.

Inspector Ansah said both Odoi and the witness were rushed to the Amasaman Hospital but the girl was pronounced dead on arrival, while the witness was treated and discharged.
