Yaw Nkrumah, 28, Akokoaso based farmer in the Akyemansa District, has been sentenced to 10 years in jail for stealing cassava valued GH₵500.00.
Nkrumah pleaded guilty.
Chief Inspector Adelaide Appiakorang told the Akim Swedru Circuit Court that the complainant, Mr Kwaku Opoku, lives with Nkrumah at Akokoaso in the Eastern Region.
She said on February 22, at about 1130 hours, Mr Opoku went to his farm and detected that someone had uprooted his cassava.
Chief Inspector Appiakorang said Mr Opoku investigated and noticed that Nkrumah was the one who stole the crop.
She said the complainant confronted Nkrumah, who admitted the offence and was arrested.
