A 28 year-old farmer, who allegedly threatened to kill his father, has been remanded into prison custody by the Tarkwa District Court.

Osumanu Mohammed, the accused person, pleaded not guilty with explanation to threat of death and the case was adjourned to January 20.

Police Inspector Faustina Celestina Anaman told the Court presided over by Mr Jonathan Nunoo that the complainant, Emmanuel Mensah, a farmer, lives with the accused person at Achiase, near Aboso.

Inspector Anaman said on November 22, at about 0730 hours, the complainant and his labourer, Felix Takyi went to his farm to work, on their return home around 1830 hours, the accused person who had then armed himself with a cutlass and a stick threatened to kill the complainant.

She said Mohammed attempted to hit the complainant with the stick but Takyi used his hand to block the effort as he was standing close to the complainant.

Inspector Anaman said the accused person not satisfied also threw a cutlass at Takyi which he also dodged.

She said the complainant frightened at the actions of the accused rushed to the unit committee chairman of the area and reported the incident to him.

Inspector Anaman said the complainant also mobilized some people in the community who helped in bringing the accused to the Achiase police station, where a complaint was formally lodged.
