A driver working with the Approachers’ Company Limited has been arrested over the theft of textbooks worth GHȼ77,791.50 belonging to his employers.
Sampson Boateng was on Thursday put before a Kumasi Circuit Court to answer a charge of stealing.
He pleaded not guilty and was granted GH¢80,000.00 bail with two sureties - one to be justified.
The court, presided over by Mr. Ekow Mensah, ordered that he made his next appearance on Wednesday, June 22.
His accomplice, whose name was given as Otuo Serebour, alias “Chief”, is however, on the run.
Police Chief Inspector Felix Akowuah said the crime was detected by the Managing Director, Mr. Alfred Kojo Obeng, in October, last year, when large quantity of textbooks could not be traced.
He made a report to the police and investigations uncovered some of the missing books hidden in a private property at Serwaa-Akura in Ejisu.
