The Accra Regional Police Command has arrested a 29-year-old man who is said to be terrorizing residents of North Legon in Accra. 

The suspect, Isaac Okli, who has been described by the police as ‘serial thief’, was arrested with stolen items including one flat screen television set, two sewing machines,  six plastic chairs and a water drum.

The police suspect that Okli broke into a store to get the items but said the supposed owner of the stolen goods is yet to contact the police to retrieve the items.

Briefing DAILY GUIDE, the Accra Regional Police Public Relations Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Afia Tenge, said it took a fast-thinking taxi driver to get the suspect arrested.

She said the Regional Command received the report from the police control room around 5:55 am on Wednesday that a suspected thief had broken into a shop. She stated that preliminary information indicated that the suspect had taken a taxi from North Legon to Madina.

She said the taxi driver, who suspected that the items had been stolen, diverted towards Agbogba Police Station to make a report.

“Sensing danger, the suspect resisted and struggled with the driver and at a point, he even attempted to escape from the car but he was pursued and arrested by the taxi driver,” she narrated.

A police patrol team deployed to the scene assisted and got the suspect arrested and brought to the Regional Command.
