Two more suspects have been arrested and are standing trial in connection with the gruesome killing of the female police officer at a checkpoint on the Kumbungu-Tamale road.
The two – Samuel Atutiga, 32, and Hanan Alhassan Gurundoo, 18 – were arrested in the course of the ongoing investigations into the case and have been charged with conspiracy to commit crime and murder.
They join the four other suspects, namely Nash Issahaku, Zulika Abduallah, Issahaku Yakubu Kanbon-Naa and Mahama Nashiru, who were arrested soon after the murder.
They appeared before the Tamale District Magistrate Court on Wednesday and have been remanded in prison custody to re-appear on 5th September 2019.
Both soldiers and police officers were deployed to the court premises where an unusual number of curious persons had gone to catch a glimpse of the suspects.
