The Gomoa West District Social Welfare Officer, Mr Wallace Akyeampong, has appealed to parents to cut down their expenditure on funerals and clothes, and use the money to invest in their children’s education.

He pointed out that education was essential to development, and also the best legacy that a parent could bequeath to his or her child.

Mr Akeampong said this when he addressed a group of students, guardians and parents of the Apam Royal Preparatory school at an enrolment drive at Apam.

He called on women who have been impregnated but neglected by their men to call on his outfit for help.

Mr Josiah William Mensah, a retired Assistant Director of Education, who chaired the function, advised students to use their leisure hours to study instead of watching television.

He urged parents to ensure regular payment of their children school fees to avoid being sacked from classes.
