Mr. Francis Komla Ganyaglo, Kpando District Chief Executive, has called on school children to eschew indiscipline and take their education seriously to enable them to acquire knowledge and skills required for national development.
He expressed concern about the low standards of education in the district as a result of unruliness among school children and called on parents and teachers to collectively take steps to change the situation.
Mr. Ganyaglo was speaking at a parade of school children to mark Ghana's 53rd Independence Anniversary, on the theme: "Investing in the Youth for a Better Ghana", at Kpondo on Saturday.
He said that government was committed to creating opportunities for the youth to enable them to develop their potentials for nation building
Mr. Ganyaglo charged the people to build upon the sacrifices and foundation laid by the nation's founding fathers and work for progress.
He also asked them to ensure peace, freedom and justice and promote good governance to raise Ghana's image among the comity of nations.
Mr.Gayaglo said that President John Evans Atta Mills-led Government was working hard to achieve its "Better Ghana Agenda" and asked the people to avoid confrontation and resolve disputes through dialogue.
