Nana Agyare Bofour IV, chief of Kojo-Bofour in the Pru District of the Brong-Ahafi Region has appealed to Non-Governmental Organisations to assist the local primary and Junior high school in the area with infrastructure for effective teaching and learning.

He noted with concern that pupils at the Kojo Bofour local Primary school study under trees while the students at the Junior High division hold classes under dilapidated thatched structures.

Nana Bofour made the appeal in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Kojo-Bofour, a farming community near Yeji. He said the people had made persistent appeals to the Pru District Assembly to come to their aid but had received no positive response.

He emphasised that the community was in dire need of social amenities such as toilets, bore holes and a community library.
Nana Bofour said the community had a population of more than 5,000 but had only two public toilets and a borehole.

He said the Pru River, which some of the residents depend on for their domestic chores was always polluted by cattle belonging to Fulani herdsmen, who had invaded the area.

Nana Bofour said efforts to drive the Fulani herdsmen away had proved futile as they were always armed with guns and other offensive instruments and led their animals to graze on peoples farms.
