Northern Region is to get 15 of the first 50 new Senior High Schools to be built by government, Alhaji A. B. A. Fuseini, Deputy Regional Minister, said on Wednesday.

He said the move was to ensure that students who were denied access to SHS due to limited second cycle institutions in the region after completing Junior High School got the opportunity to continue their education.

Alhaji Fuseini said this when the Anbariya Muslim group gathered to commemorate Eid-ul-Adha, feast of sacrifice, in Tamale.

The Eid-ul-Adha is celebrated in the month of Zil-Hajj to honor the Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his young and first son in obedience to Allah’s command.

The Deputy Minister said as part of efforts to woe investors to the region, the government had finalized documentation and work would soon start on the new Tamale airport.

“All these and other initiatives to bridge the infrastructure deficit in the region cannot happen if there is no peace. We have to continue to maintain the relative peace so that this region can develop”, he said.

Alhaji Fuseini appealed to Muslim leaders to name and shame few people whose behavior was tarnishing the image of the region adding that the people of the north were the most hospitable people in Ghana.

He congratulated the Black Stars on their victory over the Pharaohs of Egypt and said people should pick a lesson for the match that hard work pays.

Afa Sheikh Said, Leader of the Anbariya Islamic School, in a sermon called on all Muslims to let peace reign in all their endeavors in other to get blessing from Allah.

“We cannot knock our chest and say we are good and true Muslims if we forsake peace even at the worst provocation,” he said.
