The Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA), has cut the sod for the construction of a 1.4 million-cedi two storey industrial basic school for Mexico School at Community Two.
The project which is to take off immediately, is expected to be completed in six months.
On completion, the school would contain 12 classrooms and other ancillary facilities like the ICT Laboratory, Library, Sick bay and a Staff Common Room and recreational facilities such courts for basketball court, table tennis and volleyball, among others.
Mr Isaac Ashai Odamtten, Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE), said the construction of school blocks is to address the infrastructural challenges facing the education sector throughout the Tema Metropolis.
He said public schools would be improved and properly equipped to deliver quality education to every child of school-going age.
The MCE added that the progress of the country hinges largely on the acquisition of skills and knowledge that would bear on the natural resources that abound in the country.
Mr Odamtten urged the contractor to work around the clock, to ensure that the work is completed on schedule.
