The Ministry of Education has debunked claims making the rounds on the social media that the Minister of Education, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, had directed heads of senior high schools and basic schools to postpone the re-opening date of schools to allow for all pupil teachers to be sacked.
A release by the ministry has condemned such messages which it said were being circulated by faceless elements in the society.
The ministry therefore assured all heads of institutions and directors of education, We have not amended our traditional communication channels.
For the avoidance of doubt, the Ministry of Education hereby reiterates that re-opening is still slated for the 16th of September, 2014. Also, Government has not taken any policy decision to embark on a wholesale dismissal of pupil teachers.
