The Minister of Education, Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang has revealed to Parliament, the approved fees for fresh Senior High School students.
Making the announcement on the floor of Parliament Thursday, Prof Opoku Agyemang stated that first year boarding students will pay GHȻ668 as fees for the first term in 2015.
The amount will include a miscellaneous fee of GHȻ339.00, GHȻ175.00 for uniforms, approved teaching and learning support fee of GHȻ97.50 and a Parent and Teacher Association (PTA) levy of GHȻ37.00. The former Vice Chancellor for the University of Cape Coast added that first year day students will also pay GHȻ385 as fees.
Opoku Agyemang also disclosed that a committee has been set up to ensure that heads of the various senior high schools comply with the directive and not charge unapproved fees.
The Education Minister added that heads that are found charging more than the approved fees will be dealt with.
