Deputy Minister for Education, Alex Kyeremeh has said reasons for National Security personnel to take charge of supervision of the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) was not to scare students.

Officials of National Security are now in charge of supervision of the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) as students across the country begin to re-write some of the cancelled papers.

The security officials will be in charge of selecting of examination questions, printing of papers and distribution throughout the two-day period as part of government effort to enhance security.

The West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) canceled some papers after detecting that some the questions had leaked and gone viral on social media.

The five cancelled papers were English Language 2, Religious and Moral Education 2, Integrated Science 2, Mathematics 2, and Social Studies 2.

Speaking in an interview on OKAY FM’s "Ade Akye Abia" morning show, the deputy minister said government will make public what led to the leakage of the papers cancelled since investigation is still ongoing – “Those found guilty will face the law”.
