The re-run of five cancelled papers of this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) across the country ends today [Tuesday].

Over four thousand candidates from over thirteen thousand public and private basic schools are participating in the examination.

They wrote English Language 2 on Monday and are expected to write two other subjects today.

The Council in a bid to prevent a similar situation from occurring deployed the services of the Bureau of National Investigation to monitor the students during the examination.

The West African Examination Council (WAEC) cancelled about five papers after it emerged that those papers had been “compromised.”

The subjects were English Language 2, Religious and Moral Education 2, Science 2, and Mathematics 2 and Social Studies 2.

Some affected candidates who were dismayed by the development threatened a boycott while some parents of the candidates also threatened to sue the Council.
