Mrs Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, has said education, being an instrument of change and development, is a shared responsibility.

“As parent, the only legacy we can bequeath to our children is good education,’’ she added.

Mrs Ofosu-Adjare was speaking at a durbar to climax the celebration of a week-long Munufie festival at Mpuasu-Japekrom.

Nana Amoah Aturu, Nkonkonkyia II, the Omanhene of Mpuasu-Japekro, used the opportunity to launch the “Omanhene’s Educational Endowment Fund”.

The festival affords the people of Japekrom the opportunity to come together to plan its developmental projects.

Mrs Ofosu-Adjare said education offered the surest route for empowering the people and it was a major social project to addressing decades of underdevelopment.

She said this would make Japekrom and its environs a learning society by developing the talents and harnessing the skills of all.

She said good education offered young ones the basic tools for life and work.

She advised the youth, who would benefit from the Fund, to make good use of the opportunity to make positive changes in the area.

“Government, teachers and parents need to work together by using education to improve our lives,” she said.

Mrs Ofosu-Adjare, therefore, urged parents to reduce the high expenditure mode of funeral activities and rather invest in their children’s education.

She said the Government would continue to provide the investment and necessary logistics to make education accessible and improve the quality of life of the people.

The Minister called on Nananom to support the Government’s effort to ensure a peaceful, free and fair elections.
