Shaibu Adams Wilberforce, the Headmaster of Tamale Senior High School, who doubles as the chairman for the Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS), has indicated that Senior High Schools (SHSs) in the three Northern Regions have operated without feeding grants for the past two terms.
He appealed to the Presidency, through the Northern Regional Minister, Abdallah Abubakari and the Ministry of Education, to come to their aid.
“I want to make a passionate appeal since we are living from hand to mouth, and we are pleading, we are begging that by next week the money will be following to Tamasco,” he said.
He made this known during the 65th anniversary of Tamasco held in Tamale, the Northern Regional capital.
Some dignitaries, who graced the occasion, included Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, vice presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Ibrahim Mahama, brother of President John Mahama.
The Tamale Senior High School has about 1,428 students, which makes it one of the largest high schools in the region.
The Tamasco headmaster bemoaned encroachment on the school’s land by some people who have built drinking spots and lorry stations, among others, at the place.
“I am making an appeal to the chief of the area because we are under siege; they are gradually taking the land from us.”
Some residents who live near the school have made sure that the school wall we are building will never be completed because of their selfish interest and that has led to a lot of attacks from armed robbers who have invaded the school.”
Mr. Wilberforce stated that the population of the students keeps increasing and called on the Regional Minister to ensure the replacement of weak and old buildings in the school.
He applauded Dr. Bawumia, Mr Mahama and other personalities for making donations to the school.

its very strange and sad for institutions to virtually beg before government fulfils its obligations. however, this same government turns round and claims it has done impressively well with the mandate given to rule the country. we are a country that has a president who enjoys the sufferings and beggings of its citizens because it makes him look and feel very powerful. shame on you mr. president.
And when Dr. Bawumia said @ yapei,we had the likes of Kuko Anyidohu calling him a liar.we have been deceived for far too long n this is the time for change!
these people like freebees too much. give bith like pigs and expect government to pay for their everything. Why?
