The donation is to re-affirm her commitment to support efforts aimed at raising the standard of education in the Prestea Huni-valley constituency.

Handing over the furniture to the Municipal Education Directorate at the Municipal Assembly in Bogoso on Thursday 25th October, 2018 for onward distribution to the beneficiary schools, the MP, called on all to support the government flagship program Free SHS and said she hopes the motorbikes will aid in monitoring of the progress of the program.

Speaking to peacefmonline.com, Mrs Lawyer Barbara Oteng Gyasi hinted that apart from the provision of furniture, she had lobbied with Goldfields Ghana Limited to renovate the Aboso library to a modern one to help improve education in the constituency.

She also challenged the school children to make reading, a habit, to help them develop their reading skills and also tasked the education directorate to emulate the First Lady, Mrs. Rebecca Akufo-Addo's ‘Learning to Read, Reading to Learn’ initiative which is aimed at encouraging the habit of reading and learning among Ghanaian children

The municipal education director, Mrs. Mary Vida Kwofie, who received the items thanked the MP, and expressed the hope that they would receive more of such items from the MP for quality education delivery.

The four maternity beds are to be used at the Community Based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound in the Prestea Huni-valley Constituency.

This move according to the MP was in an immediate response to a daunting call from the health directorate to support them with items which included the motorbikes, maternity beds and delivery equipments to be used at the Community Based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound in the Prestea Huni-valley Constituency aimed at helping health personnel in the constituency to deliver quality health care to the people.

The MP made it known that, currently, expansion works at the children’s ward of the Prestea government hospital are ongoing to make more room for mothers and children and she hopes that, it will be completed by the end of this year, and that she is in consultations with the Municipal assembly and Golden Star Resources to expand the Prestea government hospital to an ultramodern one to deliver good health care to the people.

“We are also renovating the Aboso health centre, we are expanding the maternity and creating additional male wards. Government is also going to construct a new municipal hospital at the municipal capital Bogoso to improve health care delivery” she added.

Hon. The municipal health director, Mr Tamakloe applauded the MP’s move adding the motorbikes came at a needed time

“We are so happy that the MP has health at heart and I promise we will maintain the items and make good use of it to the benefits of the people in the municipal” he disclosed.
