Researchers polled 4,979 people between the ages of 16 and 65.
Men were deemed more confusing than women with almost 17% of people saying males were hardest to understand while almost 12% claimed to be most baffled by females.
Social networking site Twitter also made the list as did Stephen Hawking's theories, poker and predictive text.
Reading a train timetable, the infamous Magic Roundabout in Swindon, London's tube network and fax machines also appeared.
