The Minister of Health, Dr George Sepa Yankey, informed Parliament today that the Mental Health Bill still needed fine-tuning before it would be ready for consideration by cabinet and presentation to Parliament.
Among the issues still being worked out is the decentralization of Mental Health facilities and access to mental health patients by their families.
The Ministry held a stakeholders meeting which included the Mental Health Bill on the 29th and 30th of June.
Dr George Sepa Yankey assured Members of Parliament that the bill would be ready before the end of the month in response to a question by Mr. Kwame Anyimadu-Anti, MP for Asante Akim North.
The MP wanted to know when the Mental Health Bill will be presented to Parliament.
