The HIV focal person in the region who is worried about the trend in an interview with XYZ News said a lot of education ought to be done to ensure mothers report early for treatment to prevent their babies from being infected.
Dr. Ronald Sowah also expressed concerns about the failure of some health centers in the region to seek the consent of patients before conducting HIV/AIDS tests on them.
Dr. Sowah is however calling for a holistic approach towards addressing HIV/AIDS issues in the region. �For us in the Military fold it is mandatory but for the general public it is voluntary and they need thorough information provision before you do the testing� He said.
�We don�t compel them but as much as possible we encourage all of them to do it�all clients coming for testing need to be provided with information and seek their concern before testing�.
