The Chief Executive Officer of Johard Catering Services, Mrs. Juana Quarshie, has warned that displaying vegetables and foodstuffs on the ground can lead to their contamination.

Consequently, she has advised traders to display such vegetables as onions, tomatoes, cabbage, and pepper in containers and on tables to avoid getting them contaminated.

Mrs. Quarshie was speaking at the third Regional Cooking and Culture Festival, organized by the Tema Branch of the Port Ladies Association (PLASS) of the Ghana Ports and Harbour Authority.

She enjoined health inspectors and managers of markets, to educate traders to improve the way they handle the foodstuffs they sell.

The programme was used to showcase the country’s rich indigenous foods, and premised on the theme: “Unity in Diversity.”

Mrs. Quarshie again advised food vendors and housewives to wash vegetables well, with salty water before using them to prepare respective dishes.
