Government has ordered the suspension of the ongoing recruitment of nurses into public health institutions.
A statement signed by the Health Minister Dr. Kwaku Agyeman-Manu said : “I wish to request that you suspend all recruitment activities for the 8,634 nurses and other health staff until further notice”.
The statement however added: “The suspension is not a cancellation but to allow the ministry of Health to finalise all issues related to the financial clearance”.
Meanwhile, financial clearance for the recruitment of the nurses was given by the erstwhile Mahama government in November 2016.
The recruitment exercise has been ongoing since last week.
Speaking to Francis Abban on the Morning Starr Thursday, the spokesperson for the Health ministry Tony Goodman said the directive to suspend the exercise was issued to the various human resource units of the ministry on Wednesday, February 15.

hon kwaku agyemang manu pls tell us the exact date we'll start work cos our parents are tired feeding us everyday
Gov shouldn't disappoint jobless nurses oooo. because most of us are desperate. 4 years staying at home and depending on family and relatives for survival? the minister should fastrack dis before Easter else we will show red light. some of us have to go for interviews in the northern region whiles we live in Accra. they shouldn't make dis a waste
@tsibu you are a talented ***barred word***....why didn't mahama employ them before leaving office...ssrupid mammal like you
What is the lies here? Even majority who completed havent been posted yet another batch will soon graduate and new recruitment alread in process so whats wrong if they suspend for a while and i know our nurses wont be disappointed. tsibu read the 3rd paragraph well why , suspension not cancelation, NDC's never read to understand
We are very worried about the new twist of events and we are appealing to gov. Not to disappoint us. All medical examinations have been conducted on the respective applicants. We are not going to heed to any form of excuses from govt, we have sat in the house for quite too long,so govt should fastract the processing of these clearance so as not to send us back to the land of hopelessness.
This is what happens when you lie plenty for votes. You'll be exposed and disgraced
