Ghana has confirmed a new case of the deadly coronavirus disease bringing the total number of victims in the country to seven (7).
The new case, a male, which was reported during Peace FM News@6pm Tuesday, was confirmed on the Ghana Health Service (GHS) website.
Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, later affirmed the news in a tweet.
According to the GHS, the latest victim of the scourge who is "being managed in isolation" and "in stable condition", resides in the Greater Accra Region. He, however, is another imported case; a Ghanaian citizen who recently returned from France.
"This afternoon (17 March 2020); we have received report from NMIMR that indicated one (1) more confirmed case as positive for COVID-19 in Greater Accra Region. The case patient is a 35-year-old male, a Ghanaian citizen, who returned to Acca from France within the past 14 days. This is another imported case, which brings the total number of confirmed cases to seven (7). The case is being managed in isolation and he is in stable condition".
Meanwhile, with regard to contact tracing on the the six previous cases, "a total of 350 contacts have been identified and are being followed up," says the GHS.
The rise in number of confirmed cases comes despite government's drastic measures to curb its spread by banning social gatherings and imposing a travel ban on countries with high cases of the disease.

Immediately I saw the information that travelers except Ghanaians are discouraged from entering our jurisdiction it was then I realized we are not saved. Now just one of the cases is a Norwegian. More Ghanaians from US and Europe will come down considering the fact that we a little saver than them. The ban should’ve included Ghanaians. After all, they’re the ones been confirmed positive. In the meantime, folks let’s wash our hands with soap under running water at least 10 times daily. Avoid handshake, keep a distance of 2m from someone coughing, use alcoholic base hand sanitizers with the alcohol content of at least 70% and be active.
common sense oooh common sense. please, the covid is coming from Europe, Asia and USA. is time ministry of health and airport authorities secure well the airport with well resourced equipments and medications to check well all travelers to Ghana at the kotoka airport rather to building centers at KNUST etc. the people coming are bringing it meaning those arriving at the airport and from boarded so why not secure the airports and boarders well rather attention been drawn to getting the case and sending them to the confined centers. common sense ooh ministers and officials, build the covid centers with machines etc at the airport and boarders first as well as securing other internal centers for the cases are not in Ghana but coming to ghana
I see danger looming! Too much lackadaisical attitude. Sweet public speeches, near zero action behind the scenes. They will put out hotlines and you will call they won't even mind you seff kai.
The biggest threat to the spread of coronavirus is Ghanaians from US and Europe returning home. Either they should be discouraged from coming to Ghana or they should be subjected to state quarantine. Period
I taught our border's are already locked down, there was only two case's when the President pass out that $100million to fight Covid-19 and till date people are still coming from outside into the country, is it that they wish for a mass infection's so that they will come and make a rough expenses on it? No matter how long it will take we go need our balance Nana.
