Minister, has given the assurance that Government would create space
for senior citizens in the country to share their experiences with the
youth.

He said there was the need to constantly recall the history of
Ghana for the younger generation to appreciate the values of nation
building, which entailed sacrifice, dedication to duty, being each
other’s keeper, discipline, hard work and the sense of belongingness.

Alhaji Salia was addressing senior citizens from the Region, to
mark the 51st Ghana’s Republican Day celebration, at Wa on Friday.

The Minister said Ghana stood the risk of losing the essential
values that identified the people as a united front, and warned
against the influence of foreign culture, misplaced modernization,
materialism and greed.

Alhaji Salia appealed to Ghanaians to support efforts aimed at
ending chieftaincy and land disputes. which according to him were
creating disunity among the people.

He tasked senior citizens to use their experience to resolve
conflicts and disputes to promote peace and unity for national
development.

conflicts and wars, and indicated that the government and people
appreciated the role of senior citizens in national development.
