Dr. Skele Agoso, Board Chairman of the National Lotteries Authority (NLA) has refuted claims that the NLA is sponsoring activities of the upcoming Congress of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) which will be held in Sunyani.

This is in response to a publication in the Daily Searchlight newspaper. The publication with the headline “National Lotteries Funds NDC For 2012”, stated inter alia that the National Lotto Receivers Union (NLRU) and National Association of Lotto Agents and Writers (NALAW) are accusing the Directors of the NLA of using the authority’s funds to sponsor some key personalities within the NDC.

The newspaper named Dr. Kwabena Adjei, National Chairman of the NDC, Mr. Ato Ahwoi, Mr. Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, Seth Tekpor together with Mr. Bebaako Mensah, Secretary to the President as some of the beneficiaries.

Dr. Skele Agoso, who was speaking to the issue in an interview with Suhini Alhassan on Radio Gold, an Accra-based commercial radio station, dismissed the publication as baseless and a figment of imagination of the Editor.

“The allegation made by “Searchlight” is absolutely ridiculous. We are not sponsoring any activity of the NDC. It is unfortunate and absolutely a lie. It is an act by the newspaper to tell lies. It is a form of propaganda and a figment of imagination...Even though some of us are party members, we have not been approved to give sponsorship…,” he said.
