Okay 101.7MHz, the Abeka-Junction Ship House based sister station of PeaceFM has part of its corporate social responsibility has made a donation to Muslims in the Tesano Township as they mark the end of the month of Ramadan, i.e. Eid-ul-Fitr.

The items which include bags of rice, sugar, boxes of mineral water, crates of eggs, cooking oil and a huge ram was Okay FM’s way of wishing Muslim friends, listeners and fans of the radio station, Barka De Salah after a successful observation of the fasting month.

Making the presentation, ace broadcaster and versatile presenter, Gilbert Abeiku Aggrey Santana explained that the donation from Okay FM was to identify with Muslims during this period of Ramadan since that in itself is a gesture of reconciliation with people of the Muslim faith.

“OkayFM is there for all Ghanaians irrespective of tribe, creed or religious affiliation," Abeiku Santana said.

On his part, Newscaster and co-presenter of “Akeka keka”, Okay FM’s flagship and controversial segment on the late afternoon show, “Ekwanso Dwodwo”, Ohenenana Kwame Amo affectionately called “Barman”, stressed that OkayFM will continue to create the conditions for religious tolerance and harmony in the country in its daily broadcast.

Leaders from the Tesano Mosque, Alhaji Muntala Alhassan, Alhaji Ibrahim Bonney, Alhaji Yusif Ibrahim and Alhaji Bulari Alhassan who received the items on behalf of the Tesano Township expressed their gratitude to the management of Okay FM.

“We are grateful to Okay FM for remembering us on this special occasion. We are delighted to have both Peace and Okay FM in our neighborhood; they are the number one radio station. Your programs are educative and properly disseminated to the understanding of the ordinary Ghanaian. Our prayer is Allah blesses these stations so you will always have enough and remember always…”

They further urged other organizations and individuals to learn from this kind gesture and remember their Muslim brothers and sisters on such occasions, especially the needy ones.

Present at the ceremony were some staff of the station including DJ Yellowman and sensational newscaster cum presenter Akosua Ago-Aboagye.

Since the liberalization of the airwaves and introduction of private radio stations in Ghana, no single FM station has been able to make so much impact and cause a major upset on the radio landscape within a short span than the latest kid on the block, OKAY 101.7 FM.

This donation will certainly endear them not only to members of the Muslim community in Tesano but all Muslims worldwide.
