At least nine (9) people are said to have perished in a fatal motor accident which occurred Tuesday afternoon on the Sunyani-Berekum road.
Peace Fm's's Reporter, Yaw Kokore Joshua quoting eye-witnesses account said the accident occurred at about 2:30pm and involved two passenger vehicles in a head-on collision after drivers of both vehicles lost control of their cars.
According to eye witnesses a Taxi from Sunyani heading towards Berekum and a ford from Dormaa Ahenkro to Techiman collided head-on due to a heavy smoke from a nearby farm along the road that blocked the view of the drivers.
The driver and another person were the only surviviors in the ford car while there were three survivors from the taxi,the driver did not survive.
Reports say some of the dead are charred beyond recognition while those who survived are currently receiving medical treatment at nearby hospitals at Sunyani.
In a related development, Chief Inspector Kingsley Dompreh, Head of the Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU) in Sunyani, has told the media that due to the seriousness of the accident it is likely the death toll may rise.
