THE LONGEST serving KMA boss, Nana Akwasi Agyeman who doubles as an Ashanti royal, has given thumbs up to the occupant of the Golden Stool, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

Nana Agyeman popularly known as ‘Okumkom’ insists the present Asantehene has chalked landmark successes since he ascended the throne over a decade ago which have brought dignity to the chieftaincy institution.

He said if he was asked to make a personal assessment of the Asantehene’s reign he would give Otumfuo 99 percent marks so far.

Nana Agyeman was speaking during the heavily attended thanksgiving service of his mother in-law Agnes Adiyia held at the Adum Presbyterian Church last Sunday.

The service which saw host pastor, Rev. Dr. Kwabena Opuni-Frimpong preaching the sermon had almost come to a close when Nana Agyeman who was seated among the congregation raised his hand.

Okumkom whose action came as a surprise to the congregants said he wanted to tell the Asantehene something and he thought the packed church auditorium was the right place for him to do so.

He then mounted the podium and immediately started showering praises on the Asantehene who watched him in surprise amid intermittent smiles.

The ex-KMA boss said as an Ashanti royal he had the privilege of seeing some past monarchs in the region but he was truly captivated by the performance of the present Asantehene.

He said before Otumfuo’s enstoolment, chieftaincy as an institution in the country was sinking at a fast pace but thanks to his intervention, the noble institution has been restored to its rightful position.

Nana Agyeman noted the Asantehene is a traditional leader who has the welfare and progress of his people and country at heart and had amply demonstrated this through his programmes and plans.

“If I was told to personally assess Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, I will give him 99 percent for performing wonderfully beyond our expectations,” he said.

Nana Agyeman then delved into the private life of Otumfuo saying the Asantehene is a compassionate person and someone you could trust at all times, adding “Otumfuo also has a remembering heart.”

Okumkom implored the Asantehene to sustain his good works amid thunderous applause from the congregation.
