The construction of a GH1.2 million drainage facility at Manhyia in the Goaso Municipality has brought relief to residents.
The Ministry of Water Resources, Works and Housing awarded the project to Eugo Terrano Limited, a Tema-based construction firm, in November 2011, and it is expected to be completed within six months.
Madam Eunice Ijeoma Aku Ogbugo, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Eugo Terrano and Mr. Daniel Gyakye, Project Manager, conducted newsmen round the project site on Monday.
Work on the storm drain, the main project, including two minor ones (U-drain and pipe drain), which stretch two metres wide and 1.5 metres deep, was seen to be on course.
A heavy downpour that hit the municipality in the major rainy season last year flooded our homes and left behind huge debris, Maame Dora Asantewaa, a resident said.
Madam Ogbugo said the company intended to construct a lorry park and a market free of charge in addition to the project as its social responsibility.
