Tragedy hit the Ntiribuoho community in the Affigya-Kwabre District of the Ashanti Region at the weekend when in an attempt to draw water from a well, an 11-year-old girl ended up drowning.
The deceased, identified as Jacqueline Kobe, was a primary five pupil at the Ntiribuoho District Assembly Primary School.
The body has been deposited at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) for autopsy while sources at the Suame Police Station confirmed that the outfit is investigating circumstances that may have led to the sudden death of Jacqueline.
Meanwhile, The Finder has learnt that on the evening of last Friday, the deceased lowered a bucket into the well to draw water.
While she pulled the bucket up, she lost grip of the apparently heavy bucket and tried to save it, only to end up falling into the well together with the bucket.
An onlooker raised an alarm and neighbours tried rescuing her, but she was pronounced dead on arrival at KATH, where they rushed her for medical attention.
