Vice President John Dramani Mahama has called on accounting professionals in the country to adopt standard international best practices towards improving the growth of both the public and private sectors in Ghana.
He said accounting professionals have to adopt these standards for all businesses without sacrificing quality and credibility.
He made his remarks at the inauguration of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Ghana (ICAG) building in Accra.
The institution ICAG has been a very strong advocate in promoting international standards and continues to promote the accountancy profession. As a key message, it has emphasised accountability, integrity and transparency in the operations of public and private sector businesses.
He said the government will support ICAG in the adoption and implementation of the International Public Sector Accounting Standard (IPSAS) towards promoting public sector accountability and enhancing public sector financial reporting in the country.
