The Acting Majority Chief Whip in Parliament, George Kuntu Blankson, has justified the laying of the Constitutional Instrument, C.I. on the newly created constituencies.
Speaking on GBC's current affairs programme,Behind the News, Mr. Kuntu-Blankson said the suit filed at the Supreme Court which challenges the EC over the creation of the 45 constituencies does not in any way prevent the laying of the C.I. in Parliament.
Reacting to comments that there are no offices to accommodate more MPs, Mr. Kuntu Blankson said the JOB 600 will be completed soon to take care of that.
The Director of Communications of the New Patriotic Party, NPP, Nana Akomeah explained that the C.I. has a lot of challenges.
He said the time frame for the laying of the C.I is also problematic as Parliament will rise before the 21 day mandate for the C.I. to mature.
Meanwhile, when the issue of timeliness of the creation of the new constituencies was first raised, the Chairman of the EC, Dr. Kwadwo Afari Gyan dismissed the concerns raised.
