The Buwa (Zini) Traditional Council in the Sissala West District of the Upper West Region says the people in the area are shocked and saddened of the devastating news of the death of President John Atta Mills.

The Council, on behalf of the people, expressed its condolence to the First Lady, Mrs Naadu Mills and the family, President John Dramani Mahama, the National Democratic Congress and the good people of Ghana on the passing on of President Mills.

In a statement, Kuoro Barecheh Nlowie Naninye II, Acting President of the Buwa (Zini) Traditional Council, described President Mills as a man of peace who worked tirelessly to create an atmosphere of joy, peace and happiness for Ghanaians.

He said the entire Buwa Traditional Council deemed President Mills as the greatest President of Ghana and that if God had told them his time was due, they would have begged Him to leave the Late President for a while to complete his vision and mission for Ghana’s development.

“Like the waves of the sea, when death seized a soul, nothing can stop it, but the Almighty God has also given us hope that he who believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal rest in His mighty home," it said.

. Kuoro Naninye, who is also a Divisional Chief of Niator, said President Mills was a man whose convictions came true, whose confidence was contagious, courage caused action and whose communication worked perfectly for the unity of Ghana.

He said the Pesident was really a man full of desires for achievements and with mental energy, decisiveness and persistence as well as confidence, integrity, persuasiveness and ability to handle people.

Kuoro Baninye said President Mills had also championed human rights and social justice issues at all levels to give hope to all people especially the poor and the weak, thereby restoring their dignity.

“President Mills is gone but his good deeds or legacies would forever remain in the minds of people and may his soul continue to guide Ghana till the end of time,” the statement said.

The Buwa (Zini) Traditional Council also expressed their congratulation to President John Dramani Mahama and appealed to all Ghanaians to give him their unflinching support to enable him to achieve more for Ghana.

“While calling for the support of Ghanaians, let us also urge you to continue to hold onto your character of patience and fortitude. Your mark of dexterity, humbleness and trustworthiness, like your predecessor, leaves us with a strong believe that your tenure of office will mark a good period,” the statement said.
